Changes to City Bus Passes

8/12/2021

Provision of City of Whitehorse Transit Passes to Secondary School
Students – Procedures

GENERAL INFORMATION
 Student City Transit passes are now Semester passes.
 Students will have one pass for each semester; semester being first day of school
(August) to Jan 31st and Feb 1st to June 30th.
 Students can only have a City Transit pass or ride the School Bus, but not both.
 Registration applications are to go to Student.Transportation@yukon.ca
 Once approved the bus pass will be sent to the school for pick up.
 Pick up will be at the student’s school office in August/September and mid-January.
 Secondary school students who obtain a City of Whitehorse transit pass are not eligible
for student transportation (e.g. a school bus). Students shall not use the school bus
while they have an active Transit Pass.

PROCEDURAL REQUIREMENTS
 Students are responsible for replacing lost or misplaced Transit Passes. The school will
not provide a replacement pass and students must go to the City of Whitehorse to
purchase a new Transit Pass.
 City of Whitehorse Transit Passes are non-transferrable and shall not be used by an
individual other than the student it is issued to.

EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
In situations where the individual circumstances of a case are such that the provisions of this
procedure cannot be applied or to do so would result in an unfair or an unintended result, the
decision may be based on the individual merits and justice of the situation. Such a decision will
be considered for that specific case only and will not be precedent setting.

EFFECTIVE DATE
This procedure is effective July 28, 2021
