The Family Resource Unit will be facilitating a workshop on January 30th, in the Learning Commons at 6:00 pm. This is a support program for Yukon families and caregivers prenatally to those with children aged 19 years and under.
This parent support group is offered to support you and your family in achieving your goals, assisting with family functioning, supporting you with your relationships with your child and adolescents, and any other relevant topics to Yukon families. Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Prayer Lord our God, we thank you that we may be your children and may be led by your hand. Give us patience and faith, especially when our way on earth seems difficult and life is full of grief and hardship. You are light. You show us the right path. You go before us in the self-denial and patience taught us by your Word. Protect us on all our ways. May your kingdom grow among us until it can be plainly seen that you, O God, are truly with us doing your work and bringing us joy, even though what we do seems fruitless. But your work endures. In your work we rejoice, and we want to give thanks to you every day. Amen. Christian Unity Thank you to Rachel Grantham from Whitehorse United Church, Rev. Michelle Porco from Riverdale Baptist Church, Pastor Ben McPherson from Bethany Church, and Fr. Szwagrzyk from Sacred Heart Cathedral for their participation in last week’s Christian Unity liturgy. We are happy that they could celebrate with us. Parking A reminder to parents and students regarding parking, morning drop offs and afternoon pickups. The drop off loop is on the north side of the building; the first turn off when travelling on Duke Rd from Lewes Blvd. We are asking everyone to use this location to ensure safety (the staff parking lot is not designed for drop offs). Prayer Lord, we thank you for the many colours, cultures, and customs that we share in this world. In our differences, unite us by your love. Enable us to act together to uphold life and to make this world a just and peaceful household for all humanity. Today we ask you: O God, hear our prayer and grant us your peace. Amen Christian Unity The traditional date for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 18-25. The octave (eight days) has been celebrated continuously since 1894, but was a dream of many Christian leaders since the early years of the 19th century. This week we will celebrate Christian Unity when we gather for our liturgy on Thursday. The theme for 2024 is drawn from Luke 10:27: “You shall love the Lord your God…and your neighbour as yourself.”. Semester Two Monday January 22nd is the first day of second semester. Prayer Gracious and loving God, you are always near to us when we call, yet we frequently allow our busyness to keep us from spending quality time with you. Continue to call us to prayer and strengthen our desire to respond in the best way we know how. By the grace of your Spirit, may our efforts lead to a regular discipline of prayer that deepens our faith and increases our trust in your love and goodness. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Exam Week

Prayer Heavenly Father, This third week of Advent, let us remember that the good news of Jesus’ birth has the power to bring us great joy this Christmas season. Our joy isn’t dependent on what is going on in our life, in our world, or the people that we are with. It doesn’t depend on the gifts we give or the gifts we find under the tree. No earthly thing can ever give us complete joy. Our joy comes from you. That joy that flooded the hearts of the shepherds, the angels, the wise men, the hosts of heaven, and Mary and Joseph is the joy that still has the power to overwhelm our hearts with rejoicing. Our joy is a gift. It is the gift that you gave us that first Christmas in Jesus Christ. Flood our heart with joy this Advent season as we reflect on the good news of Jesus’ birth. Amen. Mass - Expectations On Wednesday morning, members of our school community will attend an all-school Mass. The Mass, or celebration of the Eucharist, is the fundamental liturgical ritual in the Roman Catholic Church. It is the central action and aspect of our lives of faith and the primary way in which Catholics worship God as a community. A reminder for students to be respectful – no hats, no phones, receive Communion properly (consume the host immediately, do not put it in pockets or throw it), and be mindful of behavior. Students may receive a blessing or stay seated if they would prefer, or if they are Catholic and have their first communion, they may receive communion. It has been a while since we have had Mass in the school for everyone, and we would like to ask parents to remind their children to be respectful, and to behave appropriately. Mass and Talent Show Parents and Guardians are invited to Mass on Wednesday December 20th at 9:00 am in our school gym. You are also invited to our Talent Show that will begin at 10:00 am, following Mass. Looking forward to seeing you there! Wednesday December 20th
