Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Prayer God of the hungry times, God of the difficult times, God of all the times of our lives, we need to talk. Sometimes it’s difficult to understand the direction we need to go. With all the choices we have in our lives, sometimes we’re not sure when to say “yes,” or when to say “no.” So we ask for your guidance. We ask for wisdom. We ask for Spirit. In our worship, in our work, in our choices, in our lives. May it be so, loving God! Amen. Grade 9 into 10 Parent Information Night We will be hosting a meeting – in person and on zoom – this evening at 6:30 pm for all parents and students who will be entering Grade 10 next school year. Grade 9 students and parents should have received an email invitation with the zoom link. Pink Shirt Day Pink Shirt Day is Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has now become a national day of anti-bullying across Canada and other countries around the world! Bullying, cyberbullying and harassment jeopardize learning and can severely impact a child’s mental, emotional and physical health. On Wednesday, St. Francis students and staff are encouraged to wear pink to signify the stand against bullying. For additional support, please see the resources in the following links:
Please do not hesitate to call the school at 667-5901 if you have any questions or concerns. Blessings, The St. Francis of Assisi Admin Team, Alethea Wallace, Principal and Mia Ouellette, Vice-Principal Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Lenten Prayer Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race Jesus Christ our Saviour as a model of humility. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming man And giving His life on the Cross. Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
Exposure to perfumes and other scented products can trigger very serious health reactions in individuals with asthma, allergies, migraines or multiple chemical sensitivities. Some of our students experience serious health reactions to scents, so we ask that our students limit use of perfumes/colognes, and scented products. The health effects of fragrances – ranging in severity from mild to debilitating – can include: headaches, migraines, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, shortness of breath and wheezing. For some people, especially those with asthma and other respiratory disorders, exposure to fragrances can trigger the need for emergency medical treatment. Perfumes and colognes are considered the most concentrated form of fragrance, however fragrances can be found in a wide range of products including soaps, shampoos, deodorants, hairsprays and cosmetics. To protect our students with chemical sensitivities, I am asking for your cooperation in helping to create a ‘scent-free’ environment at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary. We would like parents/guardians to discuss the following with their child:
Thank you for helping to create a safe and healthy environment for everyone at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Secondary. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school at 667-5901. Blessings, The St. Francis of Assisi Admin Team Dear St. Francis of Assisi students and families,
A Valentine Prayer I said a Valentine prayer for you and asked the Lord above to fill your heart and bless your soul With the precious gift of love. I asked Him for sincere love The kind that's meant to stay Just like the generous love You give to those you touch each day. I prayed for love from family And from every cherished friend Then I asked the Lord to give you His love that knows no end. It is a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection at Easter. Prayer Almighty God, You are the only source of health and healing. In you there is calm, and the only true peace in the universe. Grant to each one of us your children an awareness of your presence, and give us perfect confidence in you. Prayer Lord our God, we thank you that we may be your children and may be led by your hand. Give us patience and faith, especially when our way on earth seems difficult and life is full of grief and hardship. You are light. You show us the right path. You go before us in the self-denial and patience taught us by your Word. Protect us on all our ways. May your kingdom grow among us until it can be plainly seen that you, O God, are truly with us doing your work and bringing us joy, even though what we do seems fruitless. But your work endures. In your work we rejoice, and we want to give thanks to you every day. Amen. Christian Unity Thank you to Rachel Grantham from Whitehorse United Church, Rev.
